Focused the year of term on job creation and support for city businesses.
- Worked with An Garda Siochana and City Councillors to get support for new laws to prevent beggars from soliciting directly outside businesses and ATM machines.
- The first Lord Mayor to both employ interns and create a dedicated website for the office of The Lord Mayor; The website includes a free Google map of free WiFi spots in the greater Dublin area.
- Ran two successful village workshops in the Mansion House promoting trade marketing and networking for retail and other businesses in the 30+ Dublin villages.
- Conducted city and village walks to meet residents and business owners in the city.
- Conducted a workshop for unemployed graduates in the Mansion House with the Dublin City University's Ryan Academy.
- With Griffith College Dublin, ran a free business course focusing on five key area of small business and entrepreneurship.
- Accommodated Dublin City Enterprise Board in the Mansion House to run "Star Your Own Business" courses as well as training courses.
- Achieved agreement to twin Dublin with Beijing in December 2010 on Dublin City Council and signed agreement in Beijing June 2011.

- Elected in 1999, 2004 and 2009, achieving the highest first preference of all Fine Gael candidates for Dublin City Council in 2004 and 2009.
